I'm not sure why I decided to look out the window just then but this "thing" on the ladder caught my eye. My dad is constantly hanging things on stuff in the yard so I couldn't quite tell from inside the house. I stared at it until it moved so it was time to try to get closer. This is when I kick myself for not having a better lens. I sneaked out and got as close as I could. Ultimately I scared the poor thing away but it was unintentional. I did NOT use a flash. Thank you little owl for sitting in just the right spot for an awesome photo op.
This is a Western Screech Owl. It appears to be an adult.
