Re-fashion. Dirty Jeans

Earlier this year I joined Dressing Your Truth by Carol Tuttle and found out I was a Type 3. It is based on my natural energy and I can appreciate that. I dove in head first and changed my wardrobe since it sucked anyway. I hated getting dressed because I was terrible at putting outfits together and nothing felt right or matched right. Then I found out that using the color card solved all that. I love it. I admit I still need practice, especially with the lighter colors but it makes life so much easier!

Among the many "instructional" videos they have for my type to help distinguish between the other types there is one that talks about jeans. Each type wears and looks best in a different type. Mine wears "dirty" jeans and that's fine because I love them and luckily I can pretty much dye any pair I want to make them work.

Since I was dyeing several pairs of jeans I doubled the recipe (provided by DYT in the Type 3 section under resources). I used 2 boxes (powder) of RIT Tan, 2-1/2 tsp RIT Golden Yellow and 1 tsp RIT Dark Brown. I use the washing machine since I have an old one and I don't care about it's appearance. According to the box instructions you do a HOT/COLD cycle and so I filled the washer, got the jeans wet, threw them in a bucket, mixed the dye in the machine and then added the jeans. You want a long cycle so with an old washer I set the timer and reset the machine a few times so that I wouldn't lose the dye in a rinse cycle. Then I hung them on the line. I'll re-wash them all together later in case there is any dye left to rinse. Meanwhile, I'll wear them because I'm T3 and as far as I'm concerned, there's no point in re-washing them before I wear them.
