Charging Bucket

Step 1: Use up a bottle of something in an appropriate container and rinse it out really good.

Step 2: Peel off the label, cut off the top and rinse it out some more.
I used these tin snips at first but they ended up being too bulky.

Step 3: Start cutting and shaping.
I switched to my Stampin' Up!R Craft & Rubber Scissors and they worked much better.

Step 4: Poke 4 holes and cut out a square for the plug.

DONE! I think the pink is fun! Maybe I'll decorate it with stamps or something but for now I'm good. This took less than 5 minutes from start to finish.

*I got this idea from Pinterest. The original idea is from www.makeit-loveit.com

The Black Floor

I was at the 2012 Stampin' Up! Convention this past week and during the last session I got a picture text from my brother. He painted the floor! I took this early this morning. Ignore the painter's tape on the stairs.

The bench (on the left), a lighting fixture on the ceiling and some trim, my desk (under the window) and buying some tables is all that needs to be done and then I'm moving in! I can't wait! No, really! I need to get in there!

The Little Red Oil Lamp

Last night while I was watching Under the Tuscan Sun the power flickered on and off 3 times and then just didn't come back on for 2 1/2 hours. This happened at 11pm. It was a little weird since it happened just after the storm scene in the movie.

I was prepared of course. Although it took me a minute to locate my flashlight, I found it and then decided that since my batteries weren't reliable I'd use this oil lamp that I had just lying around. Really, it was just sitting there among a pile of junk in the kitchen. I had wanted to get rid of it but just couldn't because it's useful.

Luckily it had a wick and some oil in it so I lit it up. Not much oil though so I went to the shed to get the lamp oil. I just happened to know exactly where it was. Convenient.

I think I'll be keeping this little gem (the base is about 1 Cup) and I'll be getting a new bottle of oil, a new wick and I'll wash the globe. It totally came in handy and the finger hold made it even better.

Ikea Track Lighting Quick Fix

I bought an Ikea Track Lighting Fixture from someone on KSL. After a quick glance in the box I thought there wasn't anything wrong with it... until I got home. I found that this very important cheap plastic piece had been broken off.

Today, because I'm trying to push things along and finish this studio up, I decided to give my fix idea a try. I went to the shed and got the jar o' screws (we have an endless supply of mismatched screws, nuts, bolts etc.) and wouldn't you know, that the first screw I picked up was a perfect fit!

I cut off the head of the screw with my favorite monster choppers and as seen above screwed the tip into the base with some pliers. The broken piece then screwed right on.

Here it is. All done! Like new! You can't even tell it had been snapped off. Yeah, I'm good and no, I didn't have to Google or Pinterest or anything to figure this out.

Baby Proof

It's not at all what I thought it was going to be. I don't even know what I was expecting but I loved this book. It wasn't really what you'd call the 3rd book in the series of the sequence of Something Borrowed and Something Blue but it was fun to see a mention of one of the characters.

I read this over a month ago? I moved on to another book and forgot to post so I back dated it a little.

Chairs

Last night I went to DI to browse for shirts. As it approached closing time I decided to take a lap through the back room. I actually spotted 2 of these chairs in the regular furniture section but there were only 2. When I got into the back, I found 4 more with a price of $20 for the set so I went to find a cart. I loaded up all the chairs, after taking a seat to see if it was comfortable, and headed for check out. I really like the simplicity and sturdiness of them. They're just perfect for my new studio.

These were not and so I just put them up for sale. Bye bye bulky orange chairs! I won't miss you.

Max and Mickey

Max has a large collection of stuffed animals. Most of which he has had for a really long time. I'm talking years. Occasionally one will get injured slightly and if it's a favorite, it will be hospitalized and will return later with some simple mending. For instance, Grover is not pictured but that's my fault because he wasn't quite dog toy material. The lion no longer has a tail and the dog is missing an ear.

He doesn't hurt them for the most part because I make sure there aren't any hard parts like eyes or noses. Grover had a hard cardboard style mouth and so it busted open. I'll be fixing him because I love Grover.

This is his newest toy Mickey. I was at the DI the other day and couldn't not grab this one for him. At .75 cents or less I think it's a bargain and he loves when I bring him a new pal.

Mickey says "Uncle" though I can tell he's enjoying every minute of it and so is Max.

Here are a few more fun pictures of Max playing with Mickey:

If he starts to get rough, I can just tell him to be gentle and he tones it down a little. I don't think those ears are going to last but you can never tell.
