Adding on to the Shed

Before I moved to PA, my Dad and I had an idea to extend the shed to make a "motorcycle port". A place to store the bike in the winter since the old garage was going to be my craft room.

Once I moved back to UT we got moving on several projects. This being one of them. My brother heard of our idea and put it into action.

He framed it all with pressure treated wood and bolts. This is quite a sound structure and will be just as strong, if not stronger than the Tuff Shed that it is attached to.

Next he added the plywood. There he is behind the tree.

Next he added the tar paper...

Lastly he shingled it. My Dad helped with the entire process. I, did not. All I did was take pictures and occasionally hold something.

It's not completely done yet but I thought it was time to post. The back wall will be closed in and possibly the side. I'm still trying to decide but most likely. I kind of enjoy having the picnic table there but that is not why this was built so... I'll add another post later when it's completely finished.

This all happened in one weekend? I'm not really sure if it was actually a weekend. I'm still learning how to keep track of the days.

Clean Romance Novels

I read this one so fast I almost forgot to mention it! It was great. Just like all of the other books by Mary Kay Andrews. There were a few things that made me really laugh out loud. That's always fun.

I just picked this one up. The bookmark was made by my niece. I like how it peeks out at me.

Both of these books along with Little Bitty Lies are categorized as Romance. Don't let that scare you. These are NOT crotch novels, just pleasant stories with a hint of love. I wish it was easier to find these types of books. If you have any suggestions (as if anyone reads my blog), I'd love to hear them. I'm looking for clean reads.

Garden Prep Progress

This was my garden spot before. I removed the fence to extend it across the back of the house since it wasn't getting sun any longer. There's a tree that grew on the property line that blocks the majority of the afternoon sun.

Here is what my plan looks like. I'll fill in the fence, clear the grass, move the bush (you can barely see it) and put in a garden box. I also need to put a gutter on the house.

I began pulling the grass last week. Just me and The Claw digging and pulling the grass every morning until the sun got too hot. I found lots of nails, 2 extra large chunks of concrete and a silver nickel.

I'm done pulling grass(in this spot anyway) but it appears that Max still wants to help. He's really not a digger, he just gets crazy sometimes and digs and spins and runs and repeats. I guess we were both excited that I was finally done with this part of the project.

Next on the list is the gutter, fence, garden box and mixing in Nutri-mulch for now and in no particular order. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

My garden will ROCK!

This morning I decided that I wanted to finally complete my garden. No more gradually adding this or that and endlessly weeding out unwanted grass. My thoughts were supported by some gardening shows on TV. I knew I wanted some rocks and by that I meant gravel for starters.
Here's what I ended up finding on KSL Free! I had my brother come with me to pick up "some" rocks and we ended up taking 3 trips. I paid him with lunch at In & Out.

Here's the whole pile before the 3rd trip which was just to get the small stuff. We filled 3 buckets. Luckily it wasn't too far away.

The next step is to go to the library and get some books on gardening landscapes. My space is very small so it shouldn't be too difficult to plan out what I want. I will also hit Lowe's and/or Home Depot for some flowering perennials, herbs and veggies.

Laundry can be exciting!

Max heard a loud noise so he ran around barking. Can you believe he never figured out where it was coming from? Yeah, he doesn't look up. I can even hide on a ladder and he won't find me. So anyway, this is a common site here in my back yard. The balloons often get so low they look like they're going to crash but it hasn't happened yet. What you're seeing is the roof top of an old garage/shed, not a house so yes, it is low.

As you can see, they managed to get it going in the right direction. Hey! Check out my laundry! I hung an actual retractable clothesline that my sister gave me but as it turns out, I need another one! You can't see it in this picture but I had to hang the dog line to pin up the sheets. My sister also gave me a clothespin bag that hangs on the line full of clothespins. Thanks Sibster!

Garden Prep

It has been pretty gloomy and a little rainy lately but that's okay, it's perfect for garden prep! I did the main plot the other day(above). It needs a new border since the existing one has decayed. I also need some cat repellent because this morning I found an unpleasant surprise. Don't they know there's a giant litter box (sand volleyball court) next door?! Seriously.

This spot here has a Salvia there in the corner and the rest are Strawberries. Both, along with the onions (above) survived my absence. As you see, I've used my favorite tool... The Claw!

Blue Christmas

Just a quick note that I got and finished the 3rd book in the series. I think it only took me 2 days. I'll be off to the library tomorrow to return and pick up a new book. I can't get enough of Mary Kay Andrews!

Puzzle Week is Over

These are each 500 piece puzzles from Puzzlebug. I love these little ones because they still have plenty of small pieces to make it feel like you're doing a good size puzzle. It only takes me a day to do each one and of course that's while doing many other things throughout the day. They're also perfect for the little table that I use. Unfortunately, I ran out of these little ones for now but that's okay, I need to get some other things done. Lots of other things.

Littered with Laundry

I found some lint in the dryer the other day. This was in the back of the dryer so I started digging at it and vacuuming to get it out. Unfortunately, I loosened it and it fell down where the heating element is and started and itty bitty fire. No big deal... luckily.

This lead to taking the dryer apart and cleaning out all the lint. It was EVERYWHERE! Don't fool yourself into thinking that it is only collected in that so called lint trap. We also found that the aluminum tubing that takes it out of the house was broken in half thanks to our little mouse friends that probably decided to go in there to stay warm. So anyway, I refused to pay $10 for the tubing and so it took a few days to get it from my dad. He has everything. I took this picture moments ago. I guess we lost interest in putting it back together for now.

Yesterday I rewashed the whites/jeans/towels that had been sitting in the washer for 2 days. Yuck. Here they hang on a makeshift line. It's a dog tie out going from the neighbor's shed to a tree in my yard.

I also put a few things on the chair. Mostly socks. I didn't hang any "intimates" for the fear of breaking a city ordinance or something. Maybe later when I get a real line and some clothespins.

This last one is my artsy pic. Today I'm washing colors. How'd you guess?! I have to keep a closer eye on these since the weather is supposed to change this afternoon but for now, a light wind. Beautiful.

I have every intention of finding a good line that I don't have to use a step stool to get to and some clothespins and everything. Of course I'll fix the dryer but why spend the money on the electricity when I don't have to.

More Mary Kay Andrews

I just love these books! This is the one I just started. Apparently, she has 3 books that kind of go together. Savannah Blues, Savannah Breeze and Blue Christmas. I recommend you read them in that order. At least that's how the library has them listed. I'm excited to read more about the characters I just got to know.

Still unpacking

I took this picture of Max when I first started unpacking. Most of the boxes and packing paper are gone now thanks to KSL Free (in 10 minutes or less!) but I still feel like Max looks in this picture. There's a lot of cleaning and organizing ahead of me. I'm glad I can take as long as I want.
