Cart Writing

It's snowing this evening so after I put my groceries in the car I took the opportunity to write my name in cursive on the blank canvas with the shopping cart. Too bad I couldn't get a better picture. It was fun.

Mmmm. Banana Bread

I was at a stamping event (with other Stampin' Up! demonstrators) when I first tasted this banana bread. It was fabulous so I asked my friend for the recipe. Finally a recipe that tastes like bananas instead of shortening! I have since thrown out all other banana bread recipes and I intend to try this with pumpkin too.

Banana Bread Recipe
from the kitchen of Melanie's Grandma
3 or 4 smashed Bananas (over ripened)
2 Eggs
1 1/2 cups Sugar
3/4 cup Milk
1/2 cup Crisco (melted)
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Lemon Juice
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 cup chopped Nuts (optional)

Grease (I sprayed) and flour the pan.
Bake at 350 degrees until pick comes out clean
20 min for 12 muffins in baking stone
35-40 min for 3 mini non-stick loaf pans
45 min for 2 loaf pans

Wait, what's this hotel key card all about? I found the perfect thing to slice the edges from the pan without messing up the loaf or the non-stick pan. They fell right out. Awesome. You don't need to worry about the arrow though. You can use it in either direction. Ha.

Egg Division

I like to divide recipes as often as possible because I'm single and I don't want the rest to go to waste. Sure I love leftovers but I don't want to have to eat the same thing too often. Not the case really with cookies.

After some thought, I remembered Egg Beaters! Ding! A way to divide the 1 egg required in the recipe. In this case a serving of Egg Beaters is 3 tbsp so I divided the recipe by 3 starting with 1 tbsp of Egg Beaters. Everything else was simple. I weighed and divided the mix, the butter and used 1 tsp instead of the 1 tbsp of water.

It makes just a little bit which will make ONE dozen instead of the 3 dozen per the package listing. Once you've divided the recipe, everything else is the same including the nutritional info.

Yeah, I ate them all. Don't judge me. That's one of the main reasons why I divided the recipe in the first place. Next I will divide it even further so that I can make one serving (2 cookies) at a time.

Why don't I just freeze the extra dough? Because then I wouldn't even make the cookies, I'd eat the dough.

Much Needed Curtain

This wall needed something. A Curtain. After a year, I finally decided to put one up but mainly to help keep the warm air in so I got the black out kind. It sure would help "black out" if there weren't blinds between the curtain and the wall though. It was a simple job since there were already holes right where I needed them.

I also decided to move the furniture around that weekend. I created a reading corner (yeah, bad light for that) and moved some of the pictures accordingly. There's a small flower pic to the left of the window now. That random table is my work space with a TV view and I have recently discovered that both of these spots are heating vent friendly (if you can call a heating vent on the ceiling friendly). I need to get the wrinkles out of the curtains.

99 Cent Watch

I bought this watch on eBay and won the bid for 99 Cents. I like a square watch and particularly like the face on this one. I kinda wish the band was silver too but until I find one that fits, this leather one will stay. Oh wait! The band broke!

Whatever, I fixed it of course. After looking for a new band and not wanting my 99 Cent watch (not including the $4 battery) to be a $10 watch, I realized I could just fix it. Sorry I didn't take a before pic but I can tell you that the end here was completely undone. I put it back together (I lost one of the little bands) and with some black thread, re-stitched it (sorry, bad picture, it's under that little band). Then I reinforced it with some superglue. Good as new!

Great Book!

In my opinion, this was a GREAT book! I was hooked! It only took me about 10 days to read 65 chapters when usually I renew as many times as possible. I wish there were a sequel.

Here's my quick "report": Girl gets fired, moves to GA to her Dad's inherited house to fix it up, meets boy, deals with small town gossip, etc. I counted only 9 "F" bombs and the "sex" scene was implied after some talk of being frisky. It was a "Charming" story. :)

I immediately picked up another Novel (Summer Rental) from this author but I have not made time to start it yet. I hope I enjoy it as well.

Happy New Year Puzzle 2012

This one took me a little longer than expected (It's the Grand Tetons). I started it on New Years Eve and finished it tonight at 10pm exactly. That field of flowers was a pain and the glare from my overhead light didn't help.

My holiday puzzle tradition is officially over. Maybe I'll add my birthday to the list and continue with the other holidays throughout the year and not just Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year.
